Cosmetic Acupuncture
Cosmetic acupuncture is the exciting new kid on the block for anti-ageing treatment. It’s gaining popularity very quickly because of its ability to naturally create that fresh and glowing look we all want. It is for a good reason that it is also being called the new, natural Botox.
For those that don’t like the sometimes unnatural look of Botox treatments or are concerned about injecting a toxin in your face, cosmetic acupuncture is the perfect solution.
At Natural Solutions Acupuncture we combine the ancient principles of acupuncture with modern microneedling, this system is referred to as Holistic Microneedling.
What is Holistic Microneedling?
Holistic Microneedling is the performance of cosmetic skin needling using a hypoallergenic derma roller or a derma stamp. This is a minimally invasive technique as the rollers contain only very small needles and only organic and natural substances are used during treatment.
What is a treatment session like?
Dr. I-Li Ho is your cosmetic acupuncturist at Natural Solutions Acupuncture. She has completed special training with White Lotus to perform Holistic Microneedling in a professional and safe way.
Over the course of treatment we aim to help you achieve skin rejuvenation, scar/stretch mark and cellulite reduction and hair restoration in a balanced and natural way. You may also receive Holistic Microneedling to benefit loose neck and hand skin, sagging upper arms, hyperpigmentation, age spots and rosacea (except when there is pustular or nodular rosacea).
Before attending treatment, please ensure you have removed your make-up and hair styling products. At the start of the session your skin will be cleansed with disinfectant wipes and gently relaxed with a jade roller where appropriate. This is then followed by the application of the derma roller over the entire face or desired areas, and finished with the application of organic skin oil to soothe and close the pores.
How does holistic microneedling work? Is the treatment painful?
Put simply, microneedles penetrate the skin creating micro trauma that stimulate the body to produce more of its own natural collagen, and increase transdermal absorption of nutrients. This is why only natural and organic skin care products shall be used during and after treatment.
The majority of patients who have experienced the use of derma roller/stamp agree that the procedure was relatively painless. Research has shown that the specific needle lengths employed in microneedling are optimal for collage induction, and 10-20 times less painful than injection with a hypodermic syringe. Nevertheless, treatment is usually avoided during and just before the menstrual period as the hormonal changes may increase the skin sensitivity of the individual.
Who is the treatment not suitable for?
Patients with keloid scars do not benefit from microneedling. They are usually identified by the fact that they grow beyond the original area of the wound. If in doubt, please consult your doctor. The treatment usefulness is also limited in individuals suffering from Alopecia Areata, which involves losing small circles of hair and is usually associated with an autoimmune disorder or response.
For a full list of Cautions and Contraindication please refer to the information sheet that will be emailer to you at the time of booking you appointment.
What are the Recommended Treatment Schedules?
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, we believe how we look on the outside reflects the state of our health on the inside. To help promote the best aesthetic outcome, it is highly recommended that over the course of cosmetic treatment, body acupuncture is also implemented to correct any inner disharmony (physiological or emotional) which may contribute to the condition.
